The Information Systems Department's mission is to support MUST in the pursuit of its mission and goals. To achieve this, the ISD provides high quality services that facilitate the use of computing and information technology for research, teaching and learning, management and administration and other facets of the academic process in the university.

This Web portal is intended to serve as a respository of information pertaining to MUST's information infrastructure and services provided by the ISD. It consists of FAQs, HowTos, recommendations and documentations that were designed to help the MUST community make the most of its ICT infrastructure. Please feel free to browse the available pages.

Which Linux Distribution Should I Use?

Linux distribution is a coherent collection of free software with the Linux kernel (operating system) at its center. The differences between the various Linux distributions ("distros") are minor: the installation program, choice of the bundled tools/applications, arrangement of a few things on the hard drive (most of Linux is still at the same, standard hard drive location in all distributions). 10 Online Learning Tools for Students

When I was in elementary school I was very annoyed by all this studying. But my idea and hope was that once I was done with school, I would also be done learning. I couldn’t wait.

Thus I was rather irritated when I heard that my dad had to complete training for his job to learn new things. I remember I asked him when one would be done learning and the essence of what he said was of course never. Bummer!

Security Alert

Users affected by Windows worm is 'skyrocketing'

Security analysts at F-Secure believe more than 8.9 million computers have been infected by the virus, a worm, which is known variously as Conficker, Kido or Downadup, and targets the Windows operating system. Microsoft said that the worm searches for a Windows file called “services.exe”, and then embeds itself as part of that code. From there, it is able to burrow deep into the operating system, even changing the System Registry, which stores settings and options for Windows, to trick the machine into running the infected program.
